President: Jenita Loheswaran
Course: Biomedical Science (3rd year) Email: jenita.loheswaran@students.plymouth.ac.uk My role as President of UPDC is to ensure the smooth overall running of the club and to make sure that everyone is enjoying their time as part of the club. This will be my third year as part of the club - having dabbled in street dance from the age of 10 I've been a keen dancer for many years! I can't wait to make my mark on the club as President this year! I'm really looking forward to seeing you all at the Sports & Societies Fair in September and to having a great year with all the new and existing members of the club! Here’s to another great year for UPDC! Secretary: Grace Foley
Course: Education Studies (3rd year) Email: grace[email protected] My name is Grace and I am UPDC's secretary and tap coach! I have been dancing since the age of two and a half, with training in tap, ballet, modern, jazz, street, and musical theatre. I have been a part of UPDC for two years as well as competing at Loughborough University's inter-university dance competition in street and tap. As secretary I will be communicating with you lovely lot via emails and the Facebook group to keep you updated with what's going on in the club. I will also be taking the register at classes so I look forward to meeting lots of new people and to another great year with the club :) Social Secretary: Ella Dye
Course: Business Management (2nd year) Email: [email protected] As Social Sec, my role involves organising events such as nights out to encourage great friendships within the society. This year Mo and I are planning on having more events other than just our wild nights out. For example, going ice skating around Christmas time or having a society BBQ in the summer. I have been dancing since a young age and have experience in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz. Looking forward to another great year! Social Secretary:
Mohammed Al-Suwaidi Course: Architecture (4th year) Email: [email protected] I've been told that I am friendly/social kind of guy, hence why I think I got the role of Social Sec. Since joining UPDC, I have loved how dynamic and fun the society can be. The fun vibes are very prominent within the group every year, and hopefully we will keep that up this year with a few surprises along the way. I really look forward to working with Ella as Social Secs for 2016-17 and represent UPDC as Social Sec! Health & Safety Officer: Amy Wilson
Course: Psychology (3rd year) Email: [email protected] I am also one of the safety secs, so will be at lots of classes to help everyone out! This will be my third year as part of UPDC, and over that time I have seen it grow massively. Tap has always been my favourite and loved being in the competition squad this year! I am excited to be part of the team that keeps this amazing club so much fun and so varied. I can’t wait for another fantastic year of new classes, competitions and shows! Health & Safety Officer: Hannah Miller
Course: BEd Primary (Mathematics) (2nd year) Email: [email protected] I've been dancing since I was 8 years old, doing street and modern. I joined UPDC last year and started tap and I absolutely loved it! I'm also one of the Health and Safety Officers, so I will be making sure that everyone is kept safe. |
Vice President: Amy Wilson
Course: Psychology (3rd year) Email: amy.wilson@students.plymouth.ac.uk Being Vice President means that I will be helping with the general organising of the club, ensuring everything runs smoothly and that everyone has a great experience being a UPDC member! Course: Geography (3rd year) Email: [email protected] As treasurer with Hannah, I’ll be collecting money at classes, paying the dance coaches, generally keeping the finances in order and hopefully report back the good news of successful fund raising events. I’ve been dancing for 8 years on and off so was glad to join UPDC and start street classes at uni, as well as coming to work shops for tasters in different dance styles. I’m looking forward to being a more active part of UPDC and having a third great year as part of UPDC. Treasurer: Hannah Miller
Course: BEd Primary (Mathematics) (2nd year) Email: [email protected] I've been dancing since I was 8 years old, doing street and modern. I joined UPDC last year and started tap and I absolutely loved it! As one of the treasurers, I will be overseeing the finances for next year and collecting money. Fundraising and Events Officer: Nicole Jenkins
Course: Dance Theatre (3rd year) Email: [email protected] As an events organiser for the second time in UPDC, I intend to help the club fundraise and be a part of the organisation that goes into the show in March. Fundraising and Events Officer: Emily Priday
Course: Psychology (3rd year) Email: [email protected] As fundraising and events officer, I help fundraise to take the competition teams to Loughborough and in organising UPDC’s big end of year show. This year I hope to bring even more opportunities for members to show off their hard work and talent. I’ve been performing and competing street all over the country since the age of 9 so joining UPDC was one of the best decisions I made in first year. I can’t wait to see what the next year with UPDC holds, I know it’ll be amazing! Kit & Logistics: Chloe Argent
Course: Biomedical Science (2nd year) Email: [email protected] Like many I've been dancing since I was a little girl and have loved over the years learning ballet, tap and modern. I was lucky enough to be employed by my dance company and thoroughly enjoyed helping find costumes for shows over the years. This makes me very excited to be the kit officer for UPDC this year as I hope to bring in some great designs and widen the range of uniform offered. Last year I was able to compete at Loughborough University alongside the rest of the tap competition squad and I can't wait to see what this year holds :) |
Coaches
Street Dance: Megan Collett
Course: Graphics (2nd Year)
Email: megan.collett@students.plymouth.ac.uk
With a history of choreography and teaching, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to be street coach for UPDC! Having danced since I was little, it's such a lovely way to continue my passion while at uni. I've danced many different styles and I do my best to use these varied skills to bring a unique level of choreography (and fun!) to my classes.

My role as the ballet coach is something that I’m really passionate about, and I loved the last year of teaching classes! This year is even more exciting for me, as ballet is taking a squad to competition in Loughborough, giving us the chance to showcase the vast amount of talent in this newly introduced class. Dancing has been a huge part of my life for the last 17 years, and I love the fact I can keep it up at uni, with a sports club that is like a second family.

Contemporary: Chloe Florence
Course: Business Management (2nd Year)

As contemporary dance teacher, my role is to choreograph and teach dances to individuals that turn up to my classes. As well, this is my first year choreographing for Loughborough in the cotemporary squad. Having performed in the squad last year and understanding the competition, I’m buzzing! My style is to combine lyrical with my own unique movements, as I like my choreography to be original. I have always been very passionate about dance, having danced ballet, modern and street for several years. I am utterly ecstatic to be chosen to teach contemporary to students, as it has always been an aspiration for me. I have especially loved improvising and creating routines as well as keeping dancers happy, which is why I’m so excited to teach! I cannot wait to see what 2016 and 2017 brings for UPDC!
